The Treaty of Waitangi || Te Tiriti O Waitangi
ROUGH DRAFT OF THE TREATY PAGE 4
Neither Hobson or Freeman are seasoned speakers of the Maori tongue and their wording will need to be scrutinised by experts to see if it is suitable for translation into Maori. The handwriting is Hobson's and he's still trying to create an acceptable Preamble, but seems to be "bogged down". Freeman will use this Preamble in several strange and variable treaty versions that he later despatches overseas.
