This second side of the first draft sheet is a continuation of the preliminary Preamble effort, in the handwriting of Hobson, done around the 1st of February 1840. At about this time Captain Hobson begins to feel quite ill and is, subsequently, confined to his cabin. Work on the Treaty draft suffers as a result of his poor health and progress is both slow and difficult.
